Notice Century Aluminum Retirees
There will be a meeting for Local 5668
Members that retired prior to June 1, 2006 from Century Aluminum.
This meeting will be held at the Ravenswood High School cafeteria on
Thursday, November 19, 2009 at 5:00 P.M. This meeting is to discuss
their health care benefits. |

Notice to Alcan Employees on Layoff
September 22, 2009,
Ravenswood, WV - the employees that
were laid off from Alcan Rolled Products were certified for benefits
under the Federal Trade Adjustment Assistance Program (TAA) and
are eligible to apply for adjustment assistance under Chapter 2 of
Title II of the Trade Act of 1974.
In November, Kim Wood, from
Work Force West Virginia, will meet with
the affected employees in meetings at the Union Hall. These
employees should receive a packet in the mail telling them of the
date and time of there meeting. It is very important that they
attend there meeting. |
Flu Shot/Boosters Now
Available
September 21, 2009, Ravenswood, WV - Flu
boosters are now available in medical for the seasonal flu. We have
received 400 boosters this year as Century is not participating in
the program. Flu boosters will start today in the medical center for
Alcan employees and retirees until our supply has been used. You can
visit the clinic at any time of the day to receive the booster.
Boosters can also be obtained at your doctor's office and several
other places in the community currently.
This flu booster is not to be confused with the H1N1 vaccine which
is not due out until mid-October and will only be sent to select
medical facilities for distribution according to the Center for
Disease Control. If you or your family members are interested in the
H1N1 vaccine, please talk with your family doctor.
We also remind you that the best cure for cold/flu season is
prevention by washing your hands thoroughly and often.

Contract Extended
July 15, 2009, Ravenswood WV
- Century Aluminum of West Virginia, Inc. and the United Steel
Workers have agreed to extend the terms and conditions of their
current Collective Bargaining Agreement ("CBA") dated June 1, 2006,
which was set to terminate August 31, 2010. Accordingly, the
CBA shall not terminate earlier that 12:00 midnight local time,
August 31, 2010. All others terms and conditions of the CBA
remain in full force and effect.

5th ANNUAL
EASTER EGG HUNT
Ravenswood, WV, April 4,
2009 - The Easter Bunny
made his annual visit to the grounds of 5668's Union Hall right
on schedule on Saturday entertaining over 100 parents and their
children. Prizes were awarded to the children in the
following age groups: infant to 3 year old, 4 to 6 year old and
7 to 12 year old. Everyone enjoyed hot dogs with all the fixins,
chips, sodas, salads and cookies.
Thanks to the following individuals for all the help;
Keith & Brenda Kensil, Brian & Melissa Calwell. Tim & Gwynn McCormic,
Mandy, Julie, Kayla, Jason Miller, Mark Lynch, Alan Starcher, Nathan
Nelson and B. Cummings.

Trade Act Petition
Washington,
DC., June 19, 2009 - The
Department of Labor made the following decision:
"All workers of Century
Aluminum of West Virginia, Inc., Reduction Aluminum Smelter
Division, Ravenswood, West Virginia, who became totally or
partially separated from employment on or after May 18, 2008,
through two years from the date of certification, and all
workers in the group threatened with total or partial separation
from employment on date of certification through two years from
the date of certification, are eligible to apply for adjustment
assistance under Chapter 2 of Title II of the Trade Act of 1974,
as amended."
The "Impact (start) Date is May 18. 2009 and expires June 19, 2011.

Rumors of a Century Aluminum Ravenswood restart in July,2009 are
just that, rumors. Local Plant management stated "they had no
knowledge of the plant reopening any time soon".
Contract Extended
April 29, 2009 - The company and the International
Union reached agreement on a 3 month extension to the current labor
agreement.

But as union workers go out, contract workers are coming in. Both

Alcan Benefit Books
Incorrect
Ravenswood,
WV, Feb. 18 - The benefit
books being passed out have mistakes in them that the company would
not correct prior to sending them to print. Any questions on
specific issues that you believe to be incorrect, please give the
