Retiree Breakfast
    Ripley, WV, April 14, 2009 - Over 60 retirees from the Inspection & Loading Department gathered at Shoney's in Ripley Tuesday morning for breakfast, catch up on old friends and reminisce about old times.
    There are several meetings such as this one for other Departments or areas through out the year.  Below is a schedule of such meeting that we have.  If you have more information about retiree meetings please email the

Inspection & Loading - 2nd Tuesday in April and October at 8:00 am, Shoney's, Ripley, WV.
Casting - 2nd Tuesday, January, March, May, July and September, November at 8:00 am, Shoney's, Ripley, WV
Hot Line - 2nd Tuesday, March, July and November, 8:00 am, Shoney's, Ripley, WV
Rodding - 2nd Tuesday every month, 8:00 am, Shoney's, Ripley, WV

Retiree of the Year
   
  CEDAR LAKES, RIPLEY
- The West Virginia Alliance for Retired Americans (ARA) held their annual Convention at Cedar Lakes on November 20 and 21, 2008. This event was sponsored by the West Virginia AFL-CIO which took the lead in the establishment of the WV ARA. 

    AFSCME retiree president, Ernest “Spud” Terry has had the privilege of serving as president of the WV ARA for the past three years. This year Spud was honored by being named the West Virginia AFL-CIO Retiree of the Year for 2008.

It has been brought to the Unions attention that under federal law  (TEFRA notice) the company can hold federal income tax from a pension check. If an employee doesn't want tax withheld he/she is required to contact the company and fill out a form stating he/she doesn't want tax withheld from their pension check

So far we have had one incident at Century that we know about and the company said they will only correct it if the retiree fills out the form.
